BOOK 1 – PAGES 018 – 019
The “Judgement” Pilebunker is a very specific kind of melee weapon. While each punch exudes enormous destructive force, it requires twenty seconds of wind-up per punch. While said wind-up can happen at any point during combat, keeping the piston extended leaves it vulnerable to breaking. Similarly the weapon has insanely short reach; the spike at the front only extends about two meters out from the port.
Usually, damage is instead done through the tidal forces exuded by the punch; the shockwave is usually enough to turn people to paste and severely damage enemy armor.
However, any machine unfortunate enough to be close when the Judgement bunker fires will experience 2 terajoules of energy delivered directly into the frame.
Very few mechs can survive after such a hit.
…Well, at least it didn’t hurt for very long.
Explosions!
Was there some reason for the pilebunker there? I acknowledge that there is no need for a reason, but one is still curious if it would have been possible to recover salvage from the wreck or if it would make it easier to confirm the destruction of the convoy had things been a bit less… No, no, I see the truth clearly now. Explosions are definitely a higher calling.
It’s a harsh mercy, it’s the pilot that got skewered by their own poleaxe. To use the previous page explanation,
“A pilot’s body is typically enhanced; otherwise they would not survive the violent motions and movements usually caused by mechanized combat. Your average pilot is expected to survive impacts with a concrete surface up to and exceeding terminal velocity.
However, when a pilot does experience a mortal injury, this durability backfires; they’ll survive far longer than they probably should, and experience far more pain than they deserve.”
It’s simply stopping the needless suffering.
Jesus fuck that’s amazing
